Day 2: Carnival Venezia 10-night Eastern Caribbean Cruise
You can jump to a specific day:
First Sea day, and Venetian themed elegant night

This was our first sea day of the cruise. We had breakfast at the Marketplace buffet. They have a number of breakfast items, such as bacon, sausage, oatmeal with add ins for the oatmeal, toast, bagels, pastries, several cereals, fruit and other items, but they never have pancakes and French toast on the same day; they usually alternate between pancakes one day and French toast the next day.

They have an omelet station where they make omelettes to order while you stand and wait for your omelet to be made. It doesn’t usually take too long. You can also order eggs to order, like over easy and over medium. The omelets are really good, IMO.

After breakfast we went back to our stateroom to get changed for exercise. Our stateroom had already been cleaned. It might seem silly, but I always look forward to seeing what towel animal is on the bed each day. I know I’m not the only one who likes the towel animals – they’re so cute! It’s just a folded towel with small, black round stickers on it, but it’s still cute!
Before exercising we checked out what was being offered at Comfort Kitchen at the Lido Marketplace buffet for lunch. Below is a photo of the menu showing some of the items being offered.

It was cool that day, so I dressed with warmer clothing for my outdoor workout.

After we exercised we went to the Seafood Shack for the included Chinese food buffet. You can see the menu above. The menu changed each sea day. The vegetable spring rolls are offered every sea day. I know I said it before, but they are sooooo good. They were cooked just right, never too greasy, and so tasty. I know they’re frozen and boxed then cooked (I’m certain because I saw the box! Ha ha), but I don’t care how they end up the way they do. At least that means they are consistent in their flavor. I wish they had those spring rolls on every ship.

Then we went to La Strada grill. You can see the menu and food for that day in the photos.

Then we went back up to the Lido Marketplace on deck 10 so I could get some cake from The Sweet Spot. I asked for small slices of the two cakes I chose, but neither of my slices were small, and neither were great either, IMO. But they weren’t bad.

My husband went to the Deli to get a cheesesteak. He enjoyed it.

Then we exercised some more to burn off all those calories we consumed!
That evening was the first of two elegant nights for the cruise. Their website had said that there are three elegant nights on cruises 10 nights or longer, so we packed clothing for three elegant nights. But that was a waste because there were only two elegant nights.
That night was a Venetian themed elegant night. They encourage guests to wear Venetian masks, and a number of people of all ages wore Venetian masks. The Captain’s cocktail party was in the Piazza San Marco (the lobby), and it was Venetian themed. They had musicians playing classical music dressed in the classic Venetian style clothing. The performers were also dressed in the same style clothing singing opera from that era. The music was very enjoyable, but the whole area reeked of cigarette smoke coming from the casino. We also had to try to avoid the people who doused themselves in fragrance.

We did not see any free cocktails being offered, and we looked around for them, so I’m pretty sure they weren’t offering any free cocktails.
We quickly left to get away from the fragrance and cigarette smoke. We headed up to the Marketplace buffet to check out the menu. You can see the menu and some of the food in the photos.

Then we headed to the Main Dining Room for dinner.

My husband had Caesar Salad and Crab Cake for his appetizers, which he enjoyed, and I had MInestra D’Orzo for my appetizer; it was comforting.

My husband had Grilled Jumbo Shrimp as well as Filetto Di Manzo for his Entrees, and I also had Filetto Di Manzo. We both enjoyed our food. We both ordered our tenderloins medium rare, and they were both cooked perfectly. The mashed potatoes served with the tenderloin was very good, as was the sauce served with it.

For dessert my husband had pineapple sherbet, and it was sooooo good. It comes with two scoops of sherbet, and we ate all of it. We could have had more; it was refreshing and so yummy! I had Grand Mariner Souffle with orange cream anglaise. I’ve had it before and thought it was just OK, but I ordered it again to give it another chance. It’s OK. I like that it’s not super sweet and not very heavy even though it has a cream sauce with it.

Later that night my husband went to the Deli and ordered a tuna melt. Tuna sandwich is on the menu, but not a tuna melt. They are willing to make requests if it’s possible with the available ingredients, which is a great service. He even got to choose which bread he wanted it on. He also ordered a chili cheese dog. He thought the chili cheese dog wasn’t great, but the tuna melt was good.

We had a nice day, and got ready for bed for another sea day the next day.
