Day 14: U.S. and Canada West Coast Drive

You can jump to a specific day:

For day 14 of our trip we headed to Orange County, CA with a quick stop in Santa Barbara. We had plans with friends and family that evening in Orange County, so we headed out of Santa Barbara early enough to beat traffic going through Los Angeles County, or at least we thought we headed out early enough to avoid traffic. We had planned on driving Pacific Coast Highway (PCH) to Orange County, but again sections of PCH were closed, so we took the freeways. The traffic was horrendous! It was early afternoon when we left Santa Barbara and we got stuck in barely moving traffic for hours, and not due to any accidents or road construction on the freeways, other than sections of PCH being closed to traffic. It was bumper to bumper slow moving traffic for miles on end because that’s how bad the traffic has gotten in Southern California. When we moved from California the traffic was bad, but it’s ridiculous now – we are so glad we don’t have to deal with that traffic.

I’ll share a few photos we took while in Santa Barbara and part of our brief drive on PCH (as always, if you click on any of the photos you can see the entire photo and scroll through to see the rest of the photos in the gallery.) The story of this trip pretty much ends here because the next day was us driving back to Las Vegas, which wasn’t anything worth sharing, and the day after that we had an extremely early flight home.

The next trip we took that I’ll be sharing next on this site was to Niagara Falls and Toronto with a quick stop in Montreal (because we love Montreal!).

I hope you’ve enjoyed reading this travel story, and I thank you for stopping by!
