We grabbed breakfast at our hotel and started our long drive from Seattle to Crescent City, CA. The day was a mixture of overcast and bouts of rain to sun breaking through. It was also a mixture of sceneries with the most beautiful of the sceneries as we drove along the coasts of Oregon and Northern California.
I had a couple of stops planned along the way in case we needed to get out and walk around, but neither of us felt like stopping (except for grabbing a quick lunch and a quick dinner.)
The possible stops I had planned were Centralia, WA, Salem, OR, which has a cool art deco State Capital building and the city has many parks to visit, and Eugene, OR.

The following three photos were taken near the beach of Humbug Mountain State Park, a few minutes drive south of where the last few photos were taken.
A little south of where the last few photos were taken, U.S. Route 101 takes you away from the coastal views for a short while as it follows part of the path of Brush Creek before taking you back to the the beautiful views along the Oregon coastline.

You weave to and from the coastal views as you drive U.S. Route 101. Many of my memories of driving the North Pacific Ocean coastline from previous trips are of fog and misty rain just like we had on our drive this day. Even on those days the views are breathtaking along the coast.

We checked into our motel a little before 8 p.m. and I made friends with a black and white cat who ended up sleeping on the hood of our car overnight. I’ll share of photo of the cat in tomorrow’s story.
